What the clause requires
Text not in the public preview
The published contents list entry reads ISO/IEC 18033-7:2022, Annex A (informative), page 14. The body is not in the sample we can read, so this page states no requirement from it and does not describe it from memory.
What the public text does not state
- The annex body and every test vector value
- Whether the amendment adds or changes an example
What it means for you
Annex A is informative, which means it does not add a requirement. It supplies worked examples for the five algorithms, and the base standard points to it from clause 5. For an implementer, that makes it the cheapest conformance check in the document: a known-answer test with the published input and expected output.
The annex is not a substitute for a test programme. A single vector can catch a gross error, not a subtle one, and it says nothing about side channels, key handling or the mode built on top. The record treats the vector as one evidence line and asks for the implementation review alongside it.
The sample does not include the annex body, so this page does not reproduce a vector or invent one. It describes what the annex contains, how a buyer uses it, and what to record when the test is run. The five algorithm pages under this one carry the same treatment for each version.
Evidence to keep
| Artefact | Owner | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Test record with input, key, tweak, expected output and the annex reference | Engineering | A vector without a record is not evidence. |
| Test environment and library version | Engineering | Makes the result reproducible. |
| Purchase record for the base standard, so the Annex A values are available | Standards owner | The annex values are not in the ISO public preview. |
How to verify it
Ask for one test record. If it names only the algorithm and "passed", the vector is not traceable.
Dates
The kit plan for annex A sets the evidence review at 17 June 2027, 90 days before the estimated publication date of 15 September 2027.
